With this app, it’s as easy as a button push to become an official Squirrel Sighter for the Squirrel Census. See squirrel? Hit button. Location, time, date, weather, and more are recorded and sent to Squirrel Census Command Center, located in Atlanta, GA. Results will be used in further Squirrel Census studies.
See another squirrel? Push button again. No limits. All squirrel sightings accepted—Eastern gray, fox, black, white, flying, Indian giant squirrel, California ground squirrel, good ol’ chummy red squirrel, et al. We are inclusive.
The Squirrel Census is a community-engaged concern that was named a Kickstarter project of the year. We gather squirrel data, then present our stories through all forms of media—website, infographics, video, audio, live presentations, music, and more.

Privacy Policy
Squirrel Sighter 1.0 does not collect any user-identifiable personal information at this time. We do collect the iOS 'IdentifierForVendor' number, which does not contain any user-identifiable information but does allow us to distinguish between different (anonymous) Squirrel Sighters. We display sightings on our Official Squirrel Census Map, stripped of the IdentifierForVendor number. In future versions, we may offer the opportunity to create user profiles, so that you can, if you choose, claim your Squirrel Sightings!
If you email us, we'll hold onto your email address unless you tell us not to, in order to respond to you and, occasionally, perhaps to let you know of updates or new Squirrel Census activities. You can unsubscribe at any time. We will never share your address with a third party. Parents, please don't let your children under the age of 13 email us directly. Rather, work with them to email us through your email address.
